Percision, harsh language and grumpy people. Is this what comes to your mind too, when talking about Germany? Well, it turns out to be totally outdated. With its 82 million inhabitants it is by far the largest in Europe with a truly colorful ethno-cultural diversity and rich historic heritage.

Interesting sights and facts

The capital is Berlin, a vibrant metropolis on the surface: but deep down it has a charm of an international village. Upon exploring the city’ streets one can find the significant landmarks. The mighty Brandenburg Gate, the Charlottenburg Palace are just outside of the city center, and the famous Museum Island (a World Heritage site) are just to mention a few.
The German landscape varies from great plains to dense forests, creeks and rivers and beautifully preserved towns and castles. The people are devoted to protecting the environment. 25% of Germany’s area is national parks. Not surprisingly outdoor activities are highly popular including hiking and festivals. The motto of the German lifestlye is “live and let live”, creating a laid back atmosphere where people enjoy life to the fullest.

What to expect when there

300 types of bread are made in Germany. No wonder there are bread museums. In Germany approx. they sell thousands of sausages and cold meats.
Many stores do not have a basket. Many people put tjhe goods straight from the shelves into their bags, and then at the checkout, they would neatly unpack everything.
The pedantic Germans already regulated the exact criteria of German beer in 1516. The so-called purity law, the “Reinheitsgebot”, states how beer can be made, and above all, what can go into it. The Germans really know beer, they introduced several types to the world.
