Poland, one of the biggest country in Europe. It is located in the middle of Europe in the neighborhood of the Baltic Sea. Warsaw is the capital and the largest city in the country. Besides, it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This is the city where old and modern buildings are blended harmoniously. Beyond Warsaw, Poland is a perfect travel destination to explore castles and charming cities, not to mention that the world’s largest castle – named Malbork Castle – can also be found here. It is obvious that such a lovely country, like Poland, has delicate and appetizing traditional foods. Did you know that the country offers not only tourist sites but also food and vodka tours for those who are more interested in the Polish cuisine?
Pierogi: These stuffed dumpling is one of the most popular Polish food. You can fill it with almost everything, only your imagination could set a limit. Polish people like pierogi mainly with potatoes and cheese, sauerkraut, mushrooms, or even with fruits. Making it is very easy.

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 300ml of warm water

For the filling:

  • 1kg cottage cheese
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 0,5 tablespoon salt
  • 0,5 tablespoon sugar

Instructions (steps of cooking):

1st step
Mix flour, salt and egg in a bowl with water slowly added. Work until smooth. Cover in plastic and set aside.

2nd step
Mix cottage cheese in another bowl with egg yolks, salt and sugar until lumps are gone.

3rd step
Place a portion of the dough on a floured surface and role it out to 3mm thick.

4th step
Cut out circles with a glass and then place the filling on the circles and close pierogis.

5th step
Boil water with a splash of oil and a pinch of salt in a large pot. When water starts boiling, turn down the heat to low and drop pierogis into water. Stir gently and let them float.
When dumplings float up to the top, let them for another 2-3 minutes.

6th step
Remove pierogis and place them onto a plate. Garnish dumplings with sour cream.
