Hungary is a lovely and interesting country in Central Europe. It is more than 1000 years old with rich and colorful history. The Hungarian is one of the most difficult languages of the world. The country is the member of European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Approximately 14 million Hungarians live around the world (10 million in Hungary and about 4 million abroad). Hungary is well-known and famous among the international tourists for its delicious dishes (e.g. Hungarian goulash, fish soup, beef stew and Dobos cake), drinks (palinka and Tokaji wine), beautiful places (e.g. Balaton Lake, Zemplen hills, Hortobagy, etc.) and cities (Debrecen, Szeged, Pecs, Veszprem, Sopron and Budapest with Buda castle, Hero`s square, Parliament building, Fisherman`s bastion and Szechenyi bath) to view.
It is not widely known that Hungary has 11 Nobel prize winners (the first in 1905 and the last in 2004) and Hungarians may be proud of many significant inventions (e.g. C-vitamin, ballpoint pen, Rubik`s cube, hologram, Ford Model T, dynamo and the development of logical design for computer by János Neumann).
The list of the famous Hungarians is almost endless: Franz von Liszt, Michael Curtis, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Harry Houdini, Bela Lugosi, Andrew G. Vajna, Laszlo Almasy, Elizabeth Bathory, Theodor Herzl, Tom Lantos, Oscar Asboth, Donat Banki, Ferenc Puskas as well as Gabor Denes.
Hungarian goulash
The Hungarian goulash is a traditional, national dish. It is a well-known soup due to its special flavor. Fortunately, you can easily make it, but you need some ingredients, time (2 and 1/2 hours or more) and passion as well. Passion is the most important thing. Without it the making of goulash won`t be enjoyable. Do not forget, Hungarian goulash is not a stew!
